If the customer adds the information themselves, accept their spelling of their personal name unchanged.
If data is being collected at distance,for example over the telephone, double check spelling, as names which sound the same can be spelt in very different ways, and in many cultures people choose unusual spellings of given name for their offspring.
In just one year (1977) in the American state of Missouri, 20 different spellings were used for one single name for new borns: Xachery, Za'Korey, Zaccari, Zacharie, Zacharry Zachary, Zachery, Zachory, Zachry, Zackari, Zackarie, Zarkary, Zackery, Zackory, Zackry, Zakarey, Zakarie, Zakary, Zakery, Zakry
