Column - A means of implementing an item of data within a table. It can be in character, date, or number format, and be optional or mandatory.

Column - The logical structure within a table of a relational database management system (RDBMS) that corresponds to the attribute in the relational model of data.

column - (1) [database structures] An item in an attribute table.
(2) [computing] The vertical dimension of a table. Each column stores the values of one type of attribute for all the records, or rows, in the table. All the values in a given column are of the same data type; for example, number, string, BLOB, or date.
(3) [data models] A vertical group of cells in a raster, or pixels in an image.
