Data Encryption -Â Encryption is the process of transforming information into an unreadable "ciphertext" form. Only those with the proper key can decrypt and read the information. Encryption has long been used by militaries and governments to facilitate secret communication, but is now used to protect private commercial information, applications, hardware and software.
