Edit distance - An edit distance is a measure of similarity between two strings of data counting the number of operations required to transform one of them into the other. In master Data Management_ edit distance is used in data matching when comparing two sets of data that don't have a common exact key but may be describing the same real-world construct. Using edit distance in Data Quality_ improvement applies to both customer Data Quality_ and product Data Quality_.
