Extranet - A collaborative, Internet-based network that facilitates intercompany relationships by linking an enterprise with its suppliers, customers or other external business partners. Extranets use Internet-derived applications and technology to provide secured extensions of internal business processes to external business partners.

Extranet - And intranet that is partially accessible to authorized outsiders. Whereas and intranet resides behind a firewall and is accessible only to people who are members of the same company or organization, and extranet provides various levels of accessibility to outsiders (usually business partners or customers).
