General Purpose Mail Container - A wheeled multipurpose container constructed of square steel tubing and sheet steel material that is nestable (i.e., it can be stored in an L–shaped configuration) and is used to transport, stage, and distribute sacks, trays, and bundles. More than 5 feet tall, with a maximum cargo load of 1,200 pounds, the container can be pushed by hand or pulled by tractor. Two fold-back shelves are provided (one on the bottom and one halfway up) to separate the load in the container if required. The GPMC has retractable doors that, when closed, make the container a full container, protecting the mail and preventing mail from falling from the GPMC in transit.
