Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) - definition(s)

Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) involves combining two or more drives to improve performance and fault tolerance. Combining two or more drives also offers improved reliability and increased data volume sizes. A RAID distributes the data across several disks, but the operating system considers this array a single disk.
