SMTP - Simple Mail Transfer Protocol is the most commonly used internet protocol for sending e-mail messages between servers. Messages can be retrieved with an e-mail client (MS Outlook, Eudora, Netscape Communicator) typically using either POP (Post Office Protocol) or IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol).
