TCP/IP - [Internet] Acronym for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol. The most common protocol for Internet traffic. The Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is a communication protocol layered above the Internet Protocol (IP), which is a suite of nonproprietary communication protocols, or sets of rules, that allow computers to send and receive data over networks.
