Panama has 13 languages. The national language is Spanish , with 2 100 000 speakers. Other widely spoken languages are: Guaymí (128 000 speakers) and Western Caribbean Creole English (1-300 000 speakers).
The abbreviation used for Señorita in Panama is Srta.
Each person usually has a given name followed by two family names, that of the father followed by that of the mother, for example:
Barbara Betancourt Perez
Upon marriage, females may take their husband’s name as a further given name, in this way:
Barbara Betancourt Perez de Lopez
where the de indicates “(wife) of”. De usually indicates a married female, but may also be part of a name.
Professional people are often referred to by their qualification, followed by the given name and paternal family name (and sometimes the maternal family name):

Address blocks can contain both street names and post office box numbers, and also include districts and zonal indicators.

This is written Apartado in Panama, and the post office box number may include a hyphen (see the postal codes section below).
Panama introduced a postal code system, each code consisting of 4 digits, in 2007. In post office box addresses it is written as part of, and before, the post office box number, in this way:
Apartado 0832–2345
where 0832 is the postal code and 2345 the box number. In all other cases it is written before the place name, separated from it by a comma.

Panama has 10 provinces and 4 indigenous regions. These are listed above in the “Address format examples” section.
Panamanian telephone numbers have no area codes. Geographic fixed numbers have 7 digits. Mobile numbers have 8 digits and commence with a 6.
