Constraint : A business rule that places a restriction on business actions and therefore restrictions the resulting data. For example, "only wholesale customers may place wholesale orders."

Constraint - Anything that limits a system from achieving higher performance or throughput; also, the bottleneck that most severely limits the organization's ability to achieve higher performance relative to its purpose or goal.

constraints - [data models] Limits imposed on a model to maintain data integrity. For example, in a water network model, an 8-inch pipe cannot connect to a 4-inch pipe.
