Facing Identification Mark - A pattern of vertical bars and spaces used by automated postal equipment such as a facer-canceler to identify, orient, and separate certain types of mail. It is printed to the left of the indicia, along the top edge of a letter or card and is used to identify Business Reply Mail, automation-compatible courtesy reply envelopes, metered reply mail, Information-Based Indicia or PC Postage mail, and other designated types of mail.
