Rule - A knowledge representation formalism containing knowledge about how to address a particular business problem. Simple rules are often stated in the form : "If <antecedent> then <consequent>, where <antecedent> is a condition (a test or comparison) and <consequent> is an action (a conclusion or invocation of another rule)." An example of a rule would be "If the temperature of any closed valve is greater than or equal to 100°F, then open the valve."
