Web application -
(1) [Internet] A software program that communicates via the World Wide Web and delivers Web-based information to the user in HTML format. Web applications are typically used to add customization and interactivity to Web pages. Web applications may also be called Web-based applications.
(2) [Internet] A Web-based program that uses a Web site as the front end of a software application. Web applications allow end users to modify and pass data between a server and a client. Web applications are typically used to provide Web site search capabilities, retrieve and display user information from a database, and provide the ability to purchase items from a Web site.
