The official language is English . About 85% of the inhabitants speak Lesser Antillean Creole English .
Women often use both their maiden name and their husband’s name in that order in double-barrelled form after marriage.

Though the postal services prefer the postal code to be written on a line on its own below the locality name, actual usage varies wildly. For mechanised sorting, it should in any case be positioned as the last item within an address block (excepting, in post from most countries, country name) so that it can be used to prevent misdirection of mail pieces to other countries.
Though postal deliveries are only to mailing addresses, street addresses will be found for the use of couriers, visitors etc. As not all streets are named, these may often be descriptive and unstructured. Examples:

Anguilla introduced a single code to cover the whole country on 9th October 2007. The code is AI-2640. It appears to be designed primarily to prevent mail addressed to Anguilla being routed to Angola, Antigua and so on.

All numbers of Anguilla have the area code 264. Subscriber numbers are 7 digits long. Mobile number have subscriber numbers commencing with the digits 235, 476, 536-538, 581-584, 729 or 772.
