The official languages of Cameroon are English and French . There are 277 other languages spoken. The most widespread of these are: Ewondo (577 700 speakers); Fulfulde (668 700 speakers) and Cameroon Pidgin (2 000 000 speakers, mainly as a second language).
Any address written in a non-native language will be written in French or English. Deliveries are made only to post office boxes (Boîte Postale, or BP in French).
Though postal deliveries are only to mailing addresses, street addresses will be found for the use of couriers, visitors etc. As not all streets are named, these may often be descriptive and unstructured, using directionals such as “Behind the Cinema”, “Next to the Petrol Station” and “in the vicinity of the Bank”. Examples:
