The official language is Portuguese . There are 300 000 speakers of Upper Guinea Crioulo . Balanta and Mandyak are also spoken.
Portuguese naming conventions and forms of address are used in Cape Verde (please refer to the chapter on Portugal). Usage differs slightly, however. Senhora is used for both married and unmarried women. The form of address is usually followed by the family name only. Doutor should not be abbreviated.
Tables of names can be acquired: given names , surnames/family names , family name prefixes , forms of address , job titles

Addresses may also be found written with a hyphen between the postal code and the place name:
Addresses will often be written in Portuguese. They follow the Portuguese structure - thoroughfare types are written first and with a capital first letter, the house number is at the end of the street address string often followed by an indication of floor, stairwell etc.
Addresses containing a postal code do not need to contain an island name.
For a full description of thoroughfare types and other address components, please refer to the chapter on Portugal.
A table containing information about the relevant position of elements within address blocks can be acquired
This is written Case Postale.

A new postal code (Código Postal) system was launched in July 2019 [2] containing 7 digits with a hyphen between digits 4 and 5. This is intended to replace the 4-digit code introduced in 2003. In this new code, the first four digits (which often do not coincide with the old postal code) represent administrative areas (island, districts, municipalities) and the final three digits represent groups of buildings or a block. There are intended to be about 27000 codes, but the assignment of codes is progressing slowly – at the time of writing it appears that only one island has been coded – so it will take some time before the old codes are superseded [3].
Old codes have 4 consecutive digits and they coincide with administrative areas. The postal code is written before the settlement name on the last line of the address, sometimes separated from it with a hyphen. The letters CP may be added before it.
Old codes may begin with these numbers: 11-13, 21, 31, 41, 51, 61, 71-76, 81-82, 91.
Metadata containing postal code formatting rules, exceptions and regular expressions can be acquired
