The Cayman Islands are three islands, Grand Cayman , Cayman Brac and Little Cayman , in the Caribbean Sea. They are a British Overseas Territory. “The Caymans” is a foreign abbreviation of the proper name of the country which is culturally offensive to many residents. British West Indies, or BWI, which no longer exists geographically or politically, should also never be used.
