The 24-hour clock notation is used, with h, indicating heures, hours, often used as a separator:

French is the official language. However, the language spoken by almost the whole population is Haitian Creole French . 95% of the population understand no other language.

Women usually take their husband’s family name upon marriage. However, they may retain their own.

Postal codes, implemented in 2003, consist of a block of 4 digits preceded by the letters HT, in the format:
(HT)9999
Codes may also be found written with a space after the HT.
In most cases the first digit refers to the department, the second to the district, the third to the commune and the fourth to the part of the commune.
