Although we are getting mixed messages about the postal code format in Honduras, evidence suggests that the country has reverted to a 5-digit code in the format 99999. The code consisting of
6 alphanumeric characters in the format AA9999 appears to have been abandoned, purportedly as the two characters, indicating the departamento, were being confused by the postal services with ISO 3166 country codes. In any case, postal codes are hardly used by the populace except where poorly designed e-commerce websites demand them.
With one exception, the first two digits of the 5-digit postal code indicate the departamento.
Postal codes currently fall within the ranges 111-16, 211-23, 311-34, 412-43 and 511-52.
Metadata containing postal code formatting rules, exceptions and regular expressions can be acquired
