Six languages are spoken in Madagascar. The national language, Malagasy , is spoken by 10 152 000 people. Comorian is spoken by 25 000; French by 18 000; Antankarana Malagasy by 88 000; Southern Malagasy by 2 606 000 and Tsimihety Malagasy by 1 016 000.
Addresses not written in a native language will be written in French.

The postal code consists of a block of 3 digits. The first digit indicates the province, the final two the commune (municipality). The first two number of the postal codes fall within these ranges: 10-11, 20, 23, 30-32, 40-42, 50-51, 60-62. The codes correspond to administrative districts.
