Multidimensional Database Management System (MDBMS) - definitions

Multidimensional Database Management System (MDBMS) - A database management system (DBMS) that organizes data multidimensionally.

A multidimensional database management system (DBMS) organizes data specifically so it can be viewed with a Multidimensional Analysis (OLAP) tool. Because it is optimized for this purpose, it has the potential to deliver the information quickly and efficiently.

Multidimensional database (MDB) - is a type of database that is optimized for data warehouse and OLAP applications. Conceptually, a multidimensional database uses the idea of a data cube to represent the dimensions of data available to a user. For example, "sales" could be viewed in the dimensions of product model, geography, time, or some additional dimension.
