Requirement - A formal statement of what is needed. This might be a condition or capability needed by a user to solve a problem or achieve an objective, or a condition or capability that must be met or possessed by a product or product component to satisfy a contract, standard or specification.

Requirement - A requirement is a need, expectation, or obligation. It can be stated or implied by an organization, its customers, or other interested parties. A specified requirement is one that has been stated (in a document for example), whereas an implied requirement is a need, expectation, or obligation that is common practice or customary.
There are many types of requirements. Some of these include Quality_ requirements, customer requirements, management requirements, product requirements, and legal requirements.
