Guadeloupe is a département of France. It forms part of the French mail system. There are two large islands, Basse Terre and Grande Terre . It also includes the islands of the Saintes group , Marie Galante and Desirade . Saint-Barthélemy and the French part of Saint-Martin became separate French overseas’ collectivités on 21st February 2007.
