The national language is Standard Arabic . Libyan Spoken Arabic is spoken by about 96% of the population. 9 other languages are spoken by the remaining inhabitants.
Generally, different forms of address are used in Libya to those used in other Arab countries due to the political situation. Males are saluted as Al-Akh (“brother”) and females as El-Oaht (“sister”), followed in turn by the given name(s). This may change with the new political regime.
Those with professional qualifications are saluted as follows:

A postal code system was developed in the early 2000s, but its implementation only started in earnest after 2019. The code has 9 characters in the format

Blue plaques showing the code are being attached to buildings in some cities, and work is planned on creating street names and building numbers. Provisionally, don’t expect to see many postal codes in daily use.

Libyan numbers have area codes, when called from abroad, with a length of 2 or 3 digits, and a total number length of 8 or 9 digits. Mobile numbers have 8 digits and commence 91 or 92.
