Niger counts 21 languages. The official language is French . The most widely-spoken languages are: Arabic (in 3 forms, 277 000 speakers); Sokoto Fulfulde (709 500 speakers); Hausa (3 600 000 speakers); Manga Kanuri (350 000 speakers); Songai (390 000 speakers); Air Tamajeq (250 000 speakers), Tahoua Tamajeq (350 000 speakers) and Zarma (1 495 000 speakers).
Any address written in a non-native language will be written in French. Deliveries are made only to post boxes (Boîte Postale, or BP).
Though postal deliveries are only to mailing addresses, street addresses will be found for the use of couriers, visitors etc. As not all streets are named, these may often be descriptive and unstructured. Where street are named, the names often change after a short distance. Address examples:

Niger introduced a 4-digit postal code in 2001. Currently, the first two digits are 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 or 80, and the third digit 0 or 1.
