Paraguay has 21 languages. The official language, Spanish , is spoken by no more than 110 000 people. The most widespread language is Paraguayan Guaraní , with 4 648 000 speakers. There are also some 38 000 German -speakers in Paraguay.
The abbreviation used for Señorita in Paraguay is Srta.
Each person usually has a given name followed by two family names, that of the father followed by that of the mother, for example:

Professional people are often referred to by their qualification, followed by the given name and paternal family name (and sometimes the maternal family name):

The postal code is also (less commonly) found written after the settlement name.
If the address is written in Spanish and the thoroughfare type is calle (Street), then this is not written in the address. The thoroughfare type is written commencing with a lower-case letter. For a full list of thoroughfare types, please refer to the chapter on Spain.

Paraguay altered its postal code (Código Postal) format, probably in late 2018, from a block of 4 digits to a block of 6, in the format:
999999
The first two digits indicate the department (see the list in the administrative districts section below). The second two digits indicate a city or district. The final two digits indicate a sector, which can be a group of settlements in rural areas, or a neighbourhood in urban areas. All code currently fall in the range 00-17.

Paraguayan numbers have area codes of 2 or 3 digits when called from abroad, and a total number length of 9 digits. Mobile numbers have one of these area codes: 961, 963, 971-973, 975-976, 981-985, 991-993, 995.
