Tonga is an archipelago of 170 islands (of which 36 are inhabited) in the Pacific Ocean.

The official language is English . Most of the population (about 98%) speak Tongan . Niuafo’ou is spoken by 690 people on Niuafo’ou and ’Eua Islands.
Personal names tend to follow the pattern given name(s)[ ]family name. Women usually take their husband’s name upon marriage. Miss is usually used for unmarried women in preference to Ms.

Addresses are normally to post office boxes and are normally written in English. The name of the settlement is followed by the name of the island on the last line of the address.
Though postal deliveries are only to mailing addresses, street addresses will be found for the use of couriers, visitors etc. As not all streets are named, these may often be descriptive and unstructured. Examples:
