The official language is Standard Arabic . Most of the population speak Tunisian Spoken Arabic . There are also 500 speakers of Judeo-Tunisian Arabic ; 3 650 of Duwinna (in Chenini town, Douirat Town and Tunis); 11 000 French -speakers; 10 000 speakers of Jerba and 3 000 Tamezret speakers in Tamezret village.
This may be transliterated to Ila inayet.

Tunisian names use ben meaning “son of” rather than bin.

Addresses written in Latin script are usually written in French and are similar in format to French addresses. Their format is:

For the postal regions of Ariana & Ben Arous, Bizerte, Gabès, Sfax, Sousse and Tunis, the post office name is written after the city name. In the above example, SOUSSE is the city name and CORNICHE the post office name.
Thoroughfare types are written starting with a lower-case letter. For lists of thoroughfare types and other address component information, please refer to the chapter on France.

When written in Latin script, this is written as Boîte Postale, abbreviated to BP.
Postal codes (Code Postal) consists of a block of 4 digits. The first two digits indicate the governorate, the final two the delivery office. Codes cannot commence with 0.
