Arbëresh, a dialect of Albanian, spoken by 80-100 000 people in several pockets in the provinces of Avellino, Potenza, Taranto, Cosenza, Catanzaro and Palermo, stems from Albanian-speaking migrants of the 15th century. Their names for local settlements are:
